Core program

Our core program aims to quickly improve students’ oral ability in Chinese. It comprises 5 levels; each of them takes 150 hours, totalling 750 hours. If a student takes 3 hours a day, the whole programme requires 250 days to progress from total beginners to advanced. Based on the internationally recognized ACTFL Oral Proficiency grading scheme, Level 5 at Sinoland corresponds to “Advanced Mid” ACTFL Level. Our free evaluation/recommendation session determines all students starting level.

Daily life Spoken Chinese Levels (L 4 D ~ L 5 D)

After level 3, students will have already strengthened daily life spoken Chinese. Level 4 and 5 will teach learners how to understand more about the TV drama or film on topics of city-life, and also how to communicate with your Chinese schoolmates, teachers, neighbors and friends, etc., at similar public locations, like: coffee shops, cafeterias, bars, restaurants, dormitories, clubs, and temple fairs etc. The content will not only increase your daily-life vocabulary, but will also cover the idiomatic expressions, colloquial idioms, popular expressions, and slang which will help you to express yourself in a more Chinese fashion.

Elegant Spoken Chinese Levels (L4E~L5E)

After level 3, students will have a basic ability of the elegant and formal style of the Chinese language which can help the learners read newspapers, understand TV programs and news broadcasts. The Elegant Spoken Chinese course will strengthen students’ formal communication skills to discuss serious matter such as politics, the environment, education, economics, the government, technology, culture, society, agriculture etc. Learners will practice how to receive a news interview in Chinese, discuss important issues with Chinese officials, scholars, experts, NGO staff, federations, or association staff, deliver affective speeches, or even do Chinese language related work, like: researching, editing, translating, journalist, presenting non-entertainment television programs, diplomacy, and delivering speeches on behalf of the government, etc.

Business Spoken Chinese Levels (L 4B ~ L5B )

Business Spoken Chinese helps learner’s to further develop their business Chinese ability, like to develop communication skills in order to conduct business in a Chinese language environment, to develop the usage of business language in modern China, to develop language proficiency in both business and business casual setting, while also teaching cultural awareness.

This class is only for learners who have completed level 4 of our classes. After the basic language ability and its decorated content, this class will have students express important topics in daily life in which teachers will help students to organize paragraphs using previously covered contents. The class included: 1. Topic exercises. 2. Practice exams.
